My Overview - Flint Water Crisis
I was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. I went to Elementary, Junior and High School in the city of Flint, Michigan. All of my family was born and raised also in Flint. They are still living there in the heart of the city. In the year of 2014 is when the community started noticing the color change of the water from their sinks, showers, and water pipes from the outside. One day I was at home during the summer time watching television with my mother, when she discovered the color change in the water as she was washing her hands getting ready to cook. The color was more of a brown color than a green color. She immediately called the Flint water pipe lines. Apparently they had been getting plenty of calls that entire week about the same concern. The reason for its color, taste and odor was the amount of lead found in resident's water supply. "It's clear the nature of the threat was communicated poorly. It's also clear that folks in Flint are concerned about other aspects in of their water - taste, smell, and color being among the top complaints," Governor of Michigan reported.
